Role Overview:
We are seeking a Regulatory Permitting Specialist to manage a variety of projects and proposals within our organization. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and fostering team development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage and oversee projects and proposal efforts of diverse scales.
2. Supervise a team of biologists, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to project timelines.
3. Coordinate and oversee subcontractor activities to align with project goals.
4. Assist in the development of staff through mentorship and team-building initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in leading aquatic resource and endangered species permitting projects.
- Expertise in conducting biological site assessments and environmental constraint analyses.
- Ability to manage essential deliverables for regulatory permit applications, including CEQA documentation and environmental due diligence investigations (e.g., wetland delineations, rare plant surveys, habitat assessments, and biological resources technical reports).
- Strong understanding of the California Environmental Quality Act with experience working alongside CEQA specialists.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Experience in mentoring junior project managers and entry-level technical staff, or a strong desire to do so.
- Proficiency in wetland delineation and botanical studies, including rare plant surveys.
- Knowledge of stream and riparian habitat restoration, including planning, permitting, species selection, and implementation/monitoring strategies, as well as tidal marsh ecology.
- Familiarity with Coastal Zone and Bay shoreline permitting processes.
- Experience in compliance reporting and managing invasive plant species.
