Description

Labclinic56 is in search of a committed full-time Clinical Law Educator to enhance the Immigration Advocacy team.

In this non-tenure track role, you will have the chance to deliver essential legal support to underserved immigrants and refugees while providing students with invaluable practical legal experience.

Our methodology transcends direct legal representation, incorporating policy advocacy, community engagement, and educational outreach.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will have a crucial role in the clinic, which includes:

1. Leading the seminar aspect of the clinic

2. Overseeing clinical students

3. Collaborating with students and community partners to shape the clinic's casework

4. Advocating for immigrants and asylum seekers based on extensive prior experience

Additional responsibilities include:

5. Establishing relationships and pursuing collaborations with community organizations, service providers, and advocacy groups

6. Mentoring law students and enhancing the clinic's strategic litigation and advocacy initiatives

7. Managing operational and administrative duties related to casework and community projects

8. Supervising clinical students on cases and projects while instructing them in a comprehensive range of legal skills

9. Ensuring the quality of student work products in partnership with the Associate Dean for Experiential Education


This is a full-time, 9-month position, with opportunities for advancement within the teaching-professorial track.

Compensation

The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:

1. Juris Doctor (J.D.) or foreign equivalent, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant legal practice

2. Admission to a state bar and a minimum of 3 years of experience in Immigration Court

3. Demonstrated expertise in advocating for immigrants' rights, with an understanding of its intersections with other areas of law, including criminal law, constitutional law, and administrative law

4. 3 or more years of experience in immigration removal and asylum practice

5. Proven expertise in clinical teaching
