Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Aid Coordinator to join our team at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a key member of our financial aid team, you will play a critical role in delivering financial aid information to current and prospective students, ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal requirements and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and advise students on federal, state, institutional, and outside sources of financial aid, researching available options and explaining eligibility criteria and ineligibility as necessary.
  • Disseminate information about sources of financial aid and the ICOM financial aid process to current and prospective students, responding to inquiries by telephone, email, and in-person.
  • Monitor and evaluate Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) of students, assisting with Return to Title IV calculations if a student is withdrawn or dismissed.
  • Review ISIR and financial aid applications, resolving any conflicting information and determining eligibility for financial assistance through analysis and interpretation of data and guidelines.
  • Utilize professional judgment to adjust a student's eligibility based on documented mitigating circumstances in accordance with federal statutes, referring complex eligibility situations to the Director as needed.
  • Understand aid eligibility, restrictions, need analysis, and limits, applying them when packaging aid for students and preparing financial aid award notifications.
  • Perform financial aid counseling for students, including exit counseling for students who are suspended, withdrawn, or dismissed.
  • Assist with reporting needs, analyzing reports such as grades and enrollment status or award status to verify continued compliance and eligibility of students receiving aid/scholarships under federal, state, outside, and institutional guidelines.
  • Administer the aid under the Title IV program in accordance with all statutory provisions under the Higher Education Act (HEA), establishing and maintaining records required under HEA.
  • Identify and resolve conflicting information with NSLDS pertaining to identity, awards, and default.
  • Maintain current knowledge and learn new state and federal laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to financial aid, attending seminars, conferences, workshops, and other training sessions.
  • Conduct presentations, workshops, and orientations to inform prospective and current students of financial aid program requirements and deadlines, as well as financial literacy and debt management information.
  • Assist with Student Services related activities and campus-wide events, referring students needing assistance in other areas to the appropriate parties.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus at least 2 years of related experience.
  • Previous experience in Osteopathic or Allopathic Medical College financial aid administration preferred.
  • A team player who values collaboration, mutual support, and team cohesion.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the laws, regulations, and guidelines related to student financial assistance, as well as a good understanding of the technological support required for the efficient operation of the programs of the office.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, analyze, and evaluate data and complex regulations.
  • Ability to research regulatory information and resolve complex financial aid questions, to investigate, analyze information, and draw conclusions.
  • Work experience that demonstrates attention to detail and a high level of accuracy under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with a commitment to a high level of quality.
  • Strong teamwork principles.
