About the Role:

The Financial Aid Graduate Assistant position at Barnard College provides a current graduate student with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of the financial aid process. As a member of the Office of Financial Aid, you will play a vital role in supporting students and families as they navigate the complexities of financial aid, financing options, and billing assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional support to students and families through various channels, including in-person, phone, and email interactions.
  • Assist with the management of the online application process, document review, and tracking.
  • Contribute to special projects, such as the development of financial aid resources, and the review of student eligibility for financial aid programs.
  • Perform other administrative duties and projects as assigned by the Associate Director of Financial Aid.

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial aid concepts to students and families.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial aid information to students and families.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Currently enrolled in a Graduate Program, preferably within a higher education field.
