Graduate Assistant for Financial Aid

Overview:
The Graduate Assistant for Financial Aid role offers an enriching opportunity for graduate students to engage with various aspects of the financial aid system at Barnard College. This position plays a vital role in assisting students and their families as they explore financial aid options, funding resources, and billing support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle and oversee inquiries via phone and email concerning the financial aid process.
  • Support the management of the online application system (SLATE), including document assessment and tracking.
  • Participate in special initiatives such as QuestBridge, the HEOP application process, and the evaluation of Sibling Enrollment Verification Forms.
  • Execute additional administrative tasks and projects as directed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Comprehension of the significance of a liberal arts education for women, with the ability to express these values effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Eligibility:
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Graduate Program, ideally within the field of higher education.
Compensation: $20.00 per hour for approximately 20 hours weekly.
