We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Graduate Financial Aid Counselor to join our team at Iona University. As a key member of our financial aid department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to prospective and current graduate students, analyzing financial aid applications, and awarding financial aid offers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Aid Counseling: Provide expert guidance to graduate students and their families on financial aid eligibility, application procedures, and available financial aid programs.
  • Financial Aid Analysis: Analyze financial aid applications to determine a student's financial need and prepare and award financial aid offers.
  • Database Management: Utilize databases to gather student information and create and modify awards, ensuring accurate data entry and maintenance.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Prepare and maintain narrative and statistical reports, records, and files related to assigned activities, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and internal policies.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert and administer the University's Graduate student aid programs, including the Federal Work-Study Program.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Participate in recruitment and retention functions, including evening and weekend hours, to support the academic and financial success of graduate students.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 2 years of experience in financial aid counseling or a related field.
  • Education: Associate's degree required.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
