Become a vital part of the Daxton Hotel, an independently owned boutique establishment showcasing over 400 pieces of avant-garde art from across the globe. Each of our 151 guest rooms and suites features a custom-made unique artwork, thoughtfully curated by Saatchi Art, representing various artistic mediums including sculpture, collage, photography, drawing, and painting.

Job Summary: As a banquet cook, your primary responsibility will be to prepare and present exceptional dishes that create unforgettable dining experiences for guests attending banquets, conferences, weddings, and other special events hosted by the hotel. You will collaborate closely with the banquet chef and kitchen team to ensure that all dishes adhere to the established standards of flavor, presentation, and food safety.

Responsibilities:

  1. Food Preparation: Prepare a diverse range of dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts, following recipes and specifications provided by the banquet chef.
  2. Menu Development: Assist in crafting banquet menus by proposing creative and innovative dishes that accommodate the preferences and dietary needs of guests.
  3. Culinary Techniques: Employ various cooking methods, such as grilling, sautéing, roasting, and baking, to achieve desired flavors and textures in the dishes.
  4. Presentation: Plate and garnish dishes attractively to enhance their visual appeal and ensure they meet the hotel's standards for presentation.
  5. Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of food quality and consistency by inspecting ingredients for freshness, monitoring cooking processes, and tasting dishes for flavor.
  6. Sanitation Standards: Follow all sanitation and safety protocols to ensure a clean and hygienic working environment in compliance with health regulations.
  7. Inventory Oversight: Assist in managing inventory levels by monitoring stock of ingredients, notifying supervisors of shortages, and properly storing perishable items.
  8. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation and ensure timely service during banquet events.
  9. Guest Interaction: Engage professionally with banquet staff and guests to address any special requests or dietary concerns, providing exceptional customer service.
  10. Flexibility: Adaptability is essential in this role, as you may be required to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of banquet schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a cook in a hotel or banquet environment, with knowledge of various culinary techniques and cuisines.
  • Culinary school certification or equivalent training preferred.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new recipes and techniques.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
