Position Overview

As a Geotechnical Project Engineer, you will be instrumental in overseeing a range of innovative and technically demanding projects. Our geotechnical division engages in diverse initiatives within transportation, energy, real estate development, and natural resource sectors. Your responsibilities will encompass the planning of field activities, conducting technical discussions with site personnel, and managing project-related tasks such as budgeting and client interactions. Additionally, you will be tasked with performing engineering evaluations and drafting technical documentation, alongside conducting regular site inspections, supervising field investigations, and observing construction activities. In your role as a project manager, you will also mentor and guide junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or coordinate the design and execution of field exploration initiatives and construction oversight projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety protocols.
  • Facilitate the training and development of junior technical staff and technicians.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations and calculations covering areas such as pavement design, slope stability, settlement analysis, shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and seismic assessments.
  • Oversee the preparation of technical reports, including routine documentation, diagrams, and tables; assist senior engineers in compiling sections of larger, complex reports.
  • Direct the creation of construction plans and specifications for projects involving slope stabilization, soil nail walls, soldier pile and tieback walls, and ground improvement techniques.
  • Manage project-related activities, including participation in project meetings, budget and schedule development, staffing assignments, deliverable preparation, and proposal writing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required; a Master's degree with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience is required.
  • At least one year of experience in project management is necessary.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • All employees must complete a background check, reference verification, and pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol testing.
  • Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Proficient in performing consistent work on a computer.
  • Willingness to travel for both short-term and long-term assignments as necessary.
  • All employees are expected to conduct their work safely, identifying potential hazards and reporting them promptly, while participating in safety briefings and utilizing appropriate safety equipment during fieldwork.
Our estimated salary range for this position is competitive and will be determined based on individual qualifications, including education and experience. GeoEngineers reviews and updates salary ranges annually, and employees may be eligible for performance-based pay increases.
