Position Overview

As a Geotechnical Project Engineer, you will be instrumental in overseeing a range of innovative and technically demanding projects. Our geotechnical division engages in diverse initiatives within transportation, energy, development, and natural resources sectors. Your responsibilities will encompass the planning of field operations, conducting technical discussions with field personnel, and managing project-related tasks such as budgeting and client interactions. You will also conduct engineering evaluations, prepare detailed technical documentation, and perform regular site inspections while supervising field investigations and construction monitoring. In your role as a project manager, you will mentor and guide junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or coordinate the formulation and execution of field exploration initiatives and construction oversight projects, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety protocols.
  • Support the training and development of junior technical staff and technicians.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations and calculations covering areas such as pavement design, slope stability, settlement analysis, shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and seismic assessments.
  • Oversee the preparation of technical reports, including routine documentation, figures, and tables; assist senior engineers in compiling sections of extensive reports.
  • Direct the creation of construction plans and specifications for projects involving slope stabilization, soil nail walls, soldier pile and tieback walls, and ground enhancement techniques.
  • Manage project-related activities such as attending meetings, planning budgets and schedules, assigning tasks, preparing deliverables, and developing proposals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required; a Master's degree with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is essential.
  • At least one year of experience in project management is required.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • All employees must complete a background check, reference verification, and pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Capability to consistently work on a computer.
  • Willingness to travel for both short-term and long-term assignments as necessary.
  • All employees are expected to conduct their work safely, identifying potential hazards and reporting them promptly, as well as participating in safety briefings and wearing appropriate safety gear during fieldwork.
