Job Overview

The MEP Superintendent will possess extensive experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building controls to effectively oversee and implement Commissioning Management across various projects. This role reports directly to the Facility Solutions Regional Manager and is supported by remote Facility Solutions Associates.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Hensel Phelps Construction Co. teams.
  • Interface and coordinate with MEPF trade partners throughout the planning, inspection, and commissioning testing phases.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in standard MEPF/building controls testing procedures and the necessary tools and equipment.
  • Lead a team to ensure Operational Project Readiness (OPR) and drive Commissioning Management (CxM) services across multiple projects.
  • Analyze contract documents, including design drawings and specifications, to understand program/project requirements.
  • Create project-specific commissioning and execution plans following Hensel Phelps' templates and Contract Documents.
  • Establish and maintain a commissioning schedule aligned with CPM milestones as required by the Contract Documents.
  • Define testing and certification requirements for equipment, ensuring proper documentation management through the commissioning software platform.
  • Develop Level 2 and 3 commissioning scripts.
  • Maintain visual tracking tools for commissioning progress and status.
  • Facilitate project commissioning team meetings, discussing schedules, sequencing, constraints, and issues.
  • Document inspections and testing of MEPF equipment, driving issue resolution to support the startup and commissioning process.
  • Oversee management and documentation of commissioning progress via the commissioning software platform.
  • Coordinate and manage Level 4/5 commissioning testing on behalf of Hensel Phelps Construction Co.
Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years of experience in commercial construction with a focus on MEPF/building controls, general contracting, or commissioning agencies.
  • A four-year degree in construction management or engineering is required.
  • Experience in creating Master Equipment Lists (MEL).
  • Proficient in developing commissioning schedules using CPM methodologies.
  • Previous experience in roles such as:
    • Area Superintendent with MEP background
    • MEP Superintendent
    • MEP Manager
    • MEP Coordinator
    • Mechanical/Commissioning Specialist (Construction)
    • Mechanical Superintendent (Construction)
    • Electrical Superintendent
Preferred Market Sectors:

Medical, Data Center, Semiconductor, High-Tech Manufacturing, Process Facilities/Manufacturing, Light Industrial, Pharmaceuticals, Higher-Education Research Laboratories.


Compensation and Benefits:
  • As a W2 employee of iParametrics, eligible team members receive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a company-matching 401K plan, subject to plan terms and applicable waiting periods. Compensation for this position ranges from $36.00 to $43.00 per hour.
