Job Overview

The MEP Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, as well as building controls, ensuring effective management and execution of Commissioning Management across various projects. This role reports directly to the Facility Solutions Regional Manager and collaborates with remote Facility Solutions Associates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Hensel Phelps Construction Co. teams to ensure project success.
  • Coordinate and manage MEPF trade partners throughout planning, inspections, and commissioning testing.
  • Utilize standard MEPF and building controls testing procedures and tools for effective execution.
  • Lead a team to achieve Operational Project Readiness (OPR) and drive Commissioning Management (CxM) services across multiple projects.
  • Review and analyze contract documents for understanding, constructability, operability, and functionality.
  • Create project-specific commissioning and execution plans in line with Hensel Phelps' standards.
  • Maintain a commissioning schedule aligned with CPM milestones as required by contract documents.
  • Establish testing and certification requirements for equipment, managing documentation through the commissioning software platform.
  • Develop Level 2 and 3 commissioning scripts.
  • Track commissioning progress visually and maintain status tools.
  • Facilitate project commissioning team meetings, addressing schedules, sequencing, constraints, and issues.
  • Document inspections and testing of MEPF equipment, ensuring issue resolution to support start-up and commissioning.
  • Oversee management and documentation of commissioning progress using the commissioning software platform.
  • Coordinate Level 4/5 commissioning testing on behalf of Hensel Phelps Construction Co.
Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • At least 10 years of experience in commercial construction with a focus on MEPF/building controls.
  • A four-year degree in construction management or engineering.
  • Experience in creating Master Equipment Lists (MEL).
  • Proficiency in developing commissioning schedules using CPM methodologies.
  • Previous experience in roles such as:
    • Area Superintendent with MEP background
    • MEP Superintendent
    • MEP Manager
    • MEP Coordinator
    • Mechanical/Commissioning Specialist (Construction)
    • Mechanical Superintendent (Construction)
    • Electrical Superintendent
Preferred Market Sectors:

Experience in sectors such as Medical, Data Center, Semi-Conductor, High-Tech Manufacturing, Process Facilities/Manufacturing, Light Industrial, Pharmaceuticals, and Higher-Education Research Laboratories is ideal.

Compensation and Benefits:

As a W2 employee of iParametrics, team members are eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a company-matching 401K plan, subject to plan terms and applicable waiting periods. The annual compensation for this role ranges from $120,000 to $135,000, depending on experience and skill level.
