Job SummaryEOS Aircraft, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Avionics System Engineer / SME (Subject Matter Expert) to support our Avionics Systems team.
This role is pivotal in shaping and conceptualizing the design, development, integration, and certification of the avionics systems for the EOS line of aircraft and reporting directly to the Head of Avionics and Electrical Systems.
As the Avionics Systems SME, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful implementation of complex avionics systems.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to deliver an avionics system that is innovative, reliable, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:- Support and direct the Aircraft Avionics Systems Integration:
- Support the Avionics System integration process, ensuring seamless incorporation into aircraft design with a focus on performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Team Collaboration:
- Support and coordinate activities between avionics and electrical system engineers, airframe designers, and mechanical systems engineering teams to achieve optimal design solutions.
- Project Management:
- Support and guide avionics integration projects, oversee timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all avionics systems meet relevant aerospace standards and regulatory requirements for certification.
- Supplier Management:
- Work closely with avionics system suppliers and partners to define requirements, resolve technical challenges, and ensure delivery of high-quality components and systems.
- Testing and Validation:
- Oversee the testing and validation of the avionics system to verify performance and safety criteria are met.
- Innovation and Research:
- Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements in hybrid aircraft systems integration, leading efforts to incorporate innovative solutions into aircraft designs.
- Strategic Planning:
- Support the strategic planning of avionics systems technologies and integration methodologies to maintain and enhance the company's competitive edge.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 13 years in the aerospace industry within an aircraft or OEM environment, with leadership experience in engineering, particularly through the design, development, and certification lifecycle of EASA/FAA Part 25 aircraft.
- Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of contemporary avionics systems technologies, system integration, and aerospace certification processes.
- Leadership:
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage projects from concept through to certification and production.
- Problem-Solving:
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to address technical challenges through innovative solutions.
- Communication:
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline is preferred.
- Leadership Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, with a track record of providing technical guidance, to enable a successful collaborative team.
- Communication:
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated flexibility to work in a dynamic environment typical of a start-up, contributing to the growth of EOS as an organization.
Prior experience in an aerospace start-up or with (electric) aircraft development is highly valued.
