Data Engineering Principal

Slalom Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineering Principal to join our team. As a key member of our Data & Analytics practice, you will work with clients to scope and shape solutions with an outcome-oriented mindset, building relationships with businesses in the Greater Kansas City area and delivering exceptional and sustainable results.
You will help lead our team to build expertise and expand our capabilities. You will be focused on the delivery of complex data solutions that impact clients while growing our business.
We are looking for a leader who is intellectually curious in business process as well as technology tools, platforms, and languages. You should be a fast learner who can connect seemingly disparate ideas and help others create those same connections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver proposals to clients including content, budgetary estimates, and resource requirements
- Build conceptual architectures for modern data solutions
- Provide technical direction and oversight to data engineering and cloud teams
- Collaborate as part of larger delivery teams which may include project managers, business analysts, architects, developers, and change management professionals
- Help foster community and excellence among Slalom's Kansas City team
Required Skills:
- 8+ years in the Data world, experienced in architecture, data modeling, data engineering, and/or data governance
- Python, SQL, AWS, GCP, Golang, Hadoop, Snowflake, RDBMS, Kafka, BI reporting tools, and Data Science toolkits
- Big Data Platforms (Apache Spark, Presto, Amazon EMR)
- Cloud Data Warehouses (Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery)
- Object Oriented Coding (Java, Python)
- NoSQL Databases (DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, MongoDB)
- Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning / MLops (Amazon Sagemaker, Azure ML Studio)
- Streaming Data Ingestion and Analytics (Amazon Kinesis, Apache Kafka)
- Modern Data Workflows (Apache Airflow, dbt, Dagster)
