Position Summary
We are in search of a Senior Accountant who will be instrumental in overseeing financial documentation within a Deltek Costpoint-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This role involves establishing cost accounting methodologies and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Work Environment
This position operates in a hybrid model based in Washington, DC, necessitating onsite presence 1-2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance:
    Prepare financial statements in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    Support the Annual Small Business Administration (SBA) Audit.
    Generate various accounting and financial reports as needed.
    Compile annual closeout documents, including year-end 1099 forms for independent contractors, and assist the tax accountant with annual tax filings.
    Establish indirect rates and cost pools in compliance with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) regulations, while providing support during DCAA audits.
  • Audits & Reconciliation:
    Offer audit assistance for Payroll, 401(k), Health Insurance, Group Life Insurance, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Banking, and company credit card transactions.
    Complete monthly credit card and benefits reconciliations.
    Prepare Month-End Close and monthly reconciliation reports.
  • Accounts Management:
    Oversee both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ensuring accurate revenue recognition, general ledger maintenance, cost allocations, and indirect rates.
    Monitor revenue, costs, and profitability, providing insights into project performance for Project Managers.
  • Project & Cost Management:
    Establish and maintain all projects for Time and Materials (T&M), Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP), and Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF) Contracts.
    Prepare biweekly journal entries for the general ledger using Deltek Costpoint, calculating and gathering necessary data.
    Assist in pricing for cost proposals and provide cost buildup for projects.
  • Process Improvement:
    Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Accounting Policies and Procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting functions for a federal contracting firm.
  • 2+ years of experience in creating reports using business intelligence (BI) tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and government contracting regulations such as Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, especially Deltek Costpoint.
  • Experience supporting DCAA audits.
  • Experience in cost proposal development.
