Position Overview

This role serves as a crucial link between the Research & Development team and Production, focusing on achieving operational excellence. The responsibilities include optimizing processes and products in terms of Performance, Cost, Quality, and Safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise to project teams by offering technical guidance and scientific insights for new process development and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team and Operations to provide recommendations on technology transfer and process scaling.
  • Engage in research that leads to new product development or process enhancements.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze experiments at lab and pilot scales to assess new process technologies.
  • Develop process flow diagrams, batch cycle times, and specifications for generating project cost estimates and conceptual designs.
  • Proactively suggest process improvements for continuous enhancement, cost reduction, and innovation.
  • Create SOPs, research protocols, and experimental methods with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Utilize statistical methods to design experiments and analyze data.
  • Generate scientific publications for internal use, with potential authorship recognition.
  • Support and train operational staff.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure product quality and standardization.
  • Conduct root-cause analyses to propose and implement process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, or Animal Science with 3-5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Required knowledge in chemistry and processes.
  • Experience in R&D or Process Engineering is essential.
  • Familiarity with palatant, protein, or industrial food manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • A positive, professional demeanor with a passion for scientific inquiry.
  • Strong skills in experimental design and problem-solving.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with excellent prioritization abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Good project management capabilities.
  • Reliable and self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in bench-top and analytical laboratory settings.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly.
  • Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Willingness to travel domestically (10-20%) and occasionally internationally.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
