Position Overview

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is actively seeking Full-Time Case Worker Aides for our Mobile Response and Stabilization Services Program.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to Social Work
  • Valid Driver's license

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Case Worker Aide delivers in-home and community-based crisis intervention and de-escalation services.
  • They also provide stabilization and case management support to families and children facing escalating behavioral or emotional challenges.
  • Service duration typically ranges from a minimum of seventy-two (72) hours to a maximum of eight (8) weeks.
  • All interventions and support services are tailored to the unique needs of each family, as assessed by the Case Worker or Clinician.
  • The Case Worker Aide assists the Case Worker or Clinician during discharge and transition processes, including referrals and linkages to necessary services and supports.
  • Calls for assistance are received through a centralized screening process that evaluates the need for Mobile Response and Stabilization Services.
  • Upon receiving a call, the Case Worker Aide must respond within one hour as a secondary responder.
  • This program operates 24/7, providing services year-round, with a commitment to respond within one hour of referral.

Essential Skills:

  • Understanding of youth developmental needs and the specific requirements of the population served, along with knowledge of crisis de-escalation, conflict resolution, and behavior management techniques.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and self-management abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively in high-pressure environments and manage crisis situations with professionalism.
  • Ability to collaborate with referral sources, community partners, and both formal and informal supports in the lives of children and families.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all settings, with knowledge of local community resources being advantageous.
  • Proficiency in conducting community interventions within a one-hour travel radius and managing high-stress scenarios effectively.
  • Skill in identifying, planning for, and responding to potentially unsafe situations with sound judgment and professionalism.

About the Program:

  • The Mobile Response program provides families with essential counseling, guidance, and referral services to address juvenile crises, aiming to stabilize and preserve family units. The program addresses various juvenile behavioral issues, including truancy, chronic runaways, family conflicts, and curfew violations. Services are available around the clock to assist children and youth experiencing emotional or behavioral crises, with a focus on defusing immediate crises and ensuring safety for children and their families.
