Job Summary

Responsible for the safe operation of a bus, transporting passengers from campus to various off-campus locations according to a set schedule while fulfilling additional transportation responsibilities as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the passenger shuttle along a designated route from the campus to off-campus destinations.
  • Operate the bus for special trips as assigned.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections as mandated and refuel the bus when necessary.
  • Report any maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities in boarding and disembarking the vehicle, ensuring their safe transport.
  • Maintain accurate records of passenger counts and/or logbooks as required.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

Education and Training:
A High School diploma is required.

Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License along with a Medical Certification Card.

A clean driving history and the ability to comply with federal and state driving regulations, including regular drug testing, are essential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to make sound judgments and operate effectively under time constraints.

Must be physically capable of sitting for extended periods, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and grasping.

Proficient in speaking and reading English to communicate effectively with passengers and staff.

Must adhere to traffic laws and regulations.

Work Environment:

This role typically involves outdoor work in various weather conditions. The position carries minimal risk, requiring adherence to safety protocols typical of motor vehicle operation.

Physical Requirements:

The job involves prolonged sitting, along with frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.

It necessitates good eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, near vision acuity, and the ability to read printed materials and operate a motor vehicle.
