Job Overview

Thrifty Transportation, Inc. is seeking a dedicated MTA Mobility Para-Transit Operator. In this role, you will be tasked with operating company vehicles in a safe, courteous, and dependable manner across the designated service area while adhering to a daily schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for all passengers.
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record.
  • Conduct pre and post-trip vehicle inspections as required.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the service area's demographics.
  • Stop at specified locations to load and unload passengers.
  • Assist passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids as necessary.
  • Complete and submit written reports regarding passengers and any incidents.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year of professional driving experience.
  • Possession or ability to obtain an updated certified driving record.
  • Capability to manage a physical workload, including pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress.
  • Willingness to work early morning shifts, day shifts, and weekends.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with passengers and dispatchers, including proficiency in using a 2-way radio.
  • Adaptability to various environmental conditions, including wet, cold, and hot weather.
  • Ability to handle vehicle noise and vibrations while operating the transit vehicle.
  • Capacity to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding street signs, route sheets, and maps.
  • Compliance with DOT requirements.
