Position Overview
We are seeking a Model-Based Space Systems Engineer - Engineering Specialist, Digital Engineering. The ideal candidate will apply innovative MBSE techniques for both new and existing space, ground, and launch systems, guiding internal and external stakeholders on the effective application of MBSE methodologies, modeling languages, and tools.
Work Model
This role operates under a hybrid work model, requiring a combination of remote work and on-site presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and assess architectural and engineering models utilizing various modeling languages such as SysML, UAFML, BPMN, among others, to assist clients in acquiring, developing, integrating, and operating space systems at multiple abstraction levels.
- Integrate MBSE practices into internal research and development initiatives and counsel clients on MBSE implementation.
- Guide clients in selecting appropriate MBSE methods, languages, and tools tailored to their specific use cases.
- Provide training to internal teams and external clients on MBSE adoption and execution practices.
- Share knowledge, insights, and best practices within the Aerospace community and external MBSE forums through publications and presentations.
- Offer mentorship and oversight to junior staff within the MBSE Department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.), Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in one or more MBSE modeling languages (SysML, UAFML, LML, etc.), methodologies (OOSEM, SysMOD, MagicGrid, etc.), and tools (Cameo, Cameo Simulation Toolkit, Sparx, Rhapsody, GENESYS, etc.).
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in space systems engineering, including modeling methods and analysis.
- Familiarity with core space system segments (space, ground, transport, launch, etc.) at various levels of abstraction.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex concepts effectively.
- A proactive individual capable of leading technical teams and initiating new projects.
- Experience across all dimensions of space systems engineering, including architecture, design, and analysis.
- Possession of an active Top Secret or DOE-Q clearance issued by the U.S. government.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant engineering discipline or Computer Science.
- Experience with querying object-oriented models using Object Constraint Language (OCL).
- Familiarity with digital engineering or data engineering technologies.
- Teaching experience in technical subjects and relevant certifications.
