Department Overview:

The N111 Future Space Capabilities Department is committed to providing strategic insights and data-driven analyses that empower the Department of the Air Force and the US Space Force in designing, developing, acquiring, and integrating future warfighting space mission architectures. Our goal is to create, integrate, and evaluate space concepts, technologies, enterprise architectures, and wargaming strategies to ensure mission success against evolving threats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Space Sensing Project Leader to define and implement MITRE's Modeling and Simulation (M&S) strategy.
  • Work alongside the N111 Department Chief Engineer to establish timelines for M&S product deliveries and facilitate internal peer reviews.
  • Drive data-informed M&S solutions across MITRE while providing thought leadership in the development and coordination of Space Sensing system requirements.
  • Lead and synchronize M&S initiatives across various MITRE teams supporting the Space Systems Command, Missile Defense Agency, Space Development Agency, and the Intelligence Community.
  • Engage with MITRE leadership across departments to ensure a cohesive and impactful work program.
  • Mentor junior team members to enhance the team's M&S capabilities.
  • Promote and expand MITRE's influence within the space systems development sector.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with applicable experience.
  • Proven expertise in sensors or Systems Engineering Modeling & Simulation.
  • Experience in delivering M&S solutions and capabilities.
  • Five years of experience in developing M&S solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build consensus across various organizational units.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and a proactive approach to research and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex concepts.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation abilities.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline.
  • Five years of experience with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) technology.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Recognized expertise in Space systems and Modeling & Simulation.
  • Experience with Missile Warning and Missile Tracking systems.
  • Top Secret clearance.
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering practices.

Clearance Requirements:

This position requires candidates to possess a minimum of Secret clearance, with the expectation to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance within one year of hire.

Salary Range:

$115,000 - $144,000 - $173,000 Annual
