SOUS CHEF

We are seeking a Sous Chef to play a pivotal role in our culinary operations, contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional dining experiences.

The Sous Chef will oversee and coordinate all kitchen activities under the guidance of the Head Chef, ensuring that our culinary vision and operational standards are consistently met. This role emphasizes the importance of fostering a supportive work environment, prioritizing employee development, and cultivating future leaders in the culinary field. The Sous Chef will take charge of kitchen management, ensuring efficient and profitable operations.

Culinary Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to design innovative and authentic culinary offerings.
  • Enhance team knowledge of regional culinary traditions and practices.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and sustainable practices, sharing insights with the team.
  • Develop and uphold culinary standards through effective coaching and training.
  • Ensure menu consistency through systematic checks and adherence to recipes.
  • Continuously strive to elevate guest satisfaction and culinary quality.
  • Be actively involved during peak service times to enhance operational flow.

Performance and Talent Development:

  • Guide and mentor the culinary team to surpass performance expectations.
  • Foster a culture of leadership development within the kitchen staff.
  • Clearly communicate performance expectations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to empower and motivate team members.
  • Engage in the recruitment of top culinary talent.
  • Ensure a respectful and hospitable environment for all potential hires.
  • Implement comprehensive training programs for all staff levels.

Champion of Culinary Culture:

  • Actively promote the culinary vision and values to staff, guests, and the community.
  • Exemplify accountability and initiative in daily operations.

Financial Management:

  • Engage with the culinary community for additional support and resources.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a sous chef role and 5 years in kitchen operations is required.
  • A culinary degree is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen operations is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively.
  • Understanding of compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Experience in training and motivating diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of the food industry and competitive landscape is crucial.
  • Basic understanding of financial management principles is beneficial.
  • Participation in setting and achieving operational goals is expected.

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires standing or walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to maintain a fast-paced work environment for up to 8 hours.
