Senior Compliance Executive

The Los Angeles Unified School District is seeking a highly qualified individual for the role of Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). This pivotal position requires a seasoned professional with a robust financial background and extensive auditing experience. Familiarity with budgeting and finance within the context of California public education is highly advantageous.

Compensation and BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $176,300 to $218,600 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

The Chief Compliance Officer will be instrumental in promoting the District's commitment to legal and regulatory adherence. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive risk assessments of District operations and developing corresponding audit plans.
- Overseeing the formulation, review, and updates of District policies to ensure alignment with best practices.
- Coordinating internal audits and compliance reviews to evaluate and report on compliance issues.
- Collaborating with procurement teams to enhance compliance with contracting regulations.
- Formulating and implementing District-wide compliance strategies and assessing their effectiveness.
- Engaging with key stakeholders to execute compliance initiatives and action plans.
- Conducting internal compliance audits and monitoring activities to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
- Providing guidance and recommendations on compliance-related matters to staff.
- Developing and facilitating educational programs focused on compliance strategies for District personnel.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- Experience: A minimum of five years in management roles across auditing, risk assessment, budgeting, compliance, or related fields within a public organization. Experience in K-12 education is preferred.
- Education: A degree from an accredited institution, ideally in business administration, accounting, public administration, or a related discipline. An advanced degree is preferred.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a strong finance and auditing background, possessing:
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal financial regulations, particularly in California public education.
- Expertise in risk assessment and operational control development.
- Exceptional management skills and the ability to handle a demanding workload.
- Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret and present complex data effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
