The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of excellence and integrity in all its operations.

We are in search of a highly experienced and strategic Senior Risk and Compliance Executive to spearhead our risk management and compliance initiatives throughout the organization.

This pivotal role is essential in guaranteeing that our operations adhere to the utmost standards of quality, compliance, and risk management.

The Senior Risk and Compliance Executive will report directly to LADWP's Chief Executive Officer and Chief Engineer, overseeing the personnel and managing the operations of the Risk Management, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and Special Investigation Sections.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Risk and Compliance Executive will be responsible for:
  • Risk Management: Developing and sustaining a thorough risk registry and framework for process development to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks.
  • Strategic Oversight: Creating and refining strategic risk indicators, dashboards, and key performance metrics to monitor and assess the enterprise risk framework.
  • Compliance Management: Establishing and executing a comprehensive compliance program across the organization, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • EEO Oversight: Supervising EEO investigations and compliance, ensuring fairness and adherence to governance processes.
  • Quality Assurance and Governance: Leading quality assurance and control initiatives to uphold high operational standards, administering special investigations to address compliance or risk-related issues, and designing governance processes to enhance operational integrity and transparency.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution and a minimum of four years of management experience at the Director level, demonstrating progressively increasing responsibility in risk management, investigations, compliance, and quality control.

A proven track record in effectively managing compliance programs, interpreting and implementing regulations, and collaborating with regulatory bodies is essential.

Candidates should illustrate the level and impact of their leadership experience through specific projects and/or initiatives detailed in their resume.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant certifications, such as the Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), or Certified Risk & Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP), are highly desirable.

Industry knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, and standards related to risk management and compliance, particularly in sectors akin to municipal utilities, is preferred.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The current salary range is competitive, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package that includes provisions established by resolutions of the Board of Water and Power Commissioners.

Benefits may include parking, a take-home vehicle, subsidized health and dental insurance, sick leave, vacation, floating holidays, paid holidays, an annual executive physical, life insurance, retirement, and disability/death benefits.

Reimbursement of relocation expenses may also be considered.
