Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Florida Vision Institute. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering top-notch eye care services.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including taking medical histories and conducting preliminary exams.
  • Perform routine vision screenings, administer eye medications, and maintain ophthalmic instruments.
  • Assist physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures, and travel to other locations as needed to support clinical needs.
  • Document patient information accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines.
  • Perform pre-exam testing, including visual acuity assessments, confrontational visual field testing, and pupillary evaluations.
  • Assist with fitting contact lenses, instruct patients on lens care, and complete prescription refill requests as authorized by physicians.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with doctors and clinical colleagues, and execute duties in a professional and courteous manner.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Highly energetic with a positive attitude, and willingness to travel to other offices occasionally.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours, and type or write legibly in a dimly lit setting.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Scribe (OSC), or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred.
