Job Title: Peer Support Specialist

At Lutheran Services Carolinas, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals with severe persistent mental illness.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and empathetic individual to join our ACTT team. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will work closely with consumers to help them achieve recovery from mental illness and substance abuse issues. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing coaching and support to consumers to help them avoid rehospitalization and episodes of crisis care
  • Assisting consumers in accessing reliable transportation, financial skills, and services
  • Participating in team meetings and sharing information in a timely and accurate manner
  • Supporting clients in performing household activities and accessing basic sustenance needs
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma and completion of the Division-approved Peer Specialist Certification Training
  • Volunteer or employment experience in a human services setting
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A valid Driver's License with auto insurance and reliable transportation
