Position Overview

The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee a high-performing, agile team tasked with ensuring accurate recognition and distribution of volume allowances within Compass Group.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Guide, develop, and inspire the team responsible for the accurate recognition and allocation of purchasing volume allowances through detailed analysis and quality assurance checks.
  • Provide opportunities for professional growth and constructive feedback, fostering open communication within the team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business partners across Foodbuy and the broader Compass organization, proactively addressing challenges to meet business needs.
  • Act as a liaison between Foodbuy Accounting and Technical Accounting to ensure compliance with income recognition and contractual obligations.
  • Aim for accounting excellence by delivering complete, timely, and precise monthly financial reports.
  • Implement and uphold stringent accounting controls and key financial controls (KFCs).
  • Drive process automation and enhancements within Foodbuy Accounting, promoting a culture of positive change and strong team morale.
  • Encourage team members to take initiative in process improvements and challenge existing methodologies.
  • Oversee special projects as assigned by the Accounting Director or Senior Management.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external audits, managing inquiries and reviewing deliverables.
  • Supervise the Foodbuy Accounting balance sheet, including monthly reviews and reporting packages.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; an MBA is a plus.
  • CPA certification or candidacy preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in supplier/customer contract accounting.
  • At least 4 years of management experience.
  • Proficient in Office 365 applications (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint preferred).
  • Experience with SAP and Essbase/Hyperion is advantageous.
  • Experience in a large company with sales exceeding $3 billion is preferred.

  • Strong accounting knowledge and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience in processing and analyzing large datasets.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills across all management levels.
  • Committed and enthusiastic approach to delivering solutions to business clients.
  • Established reputation for integrity and professionalism.
  • Hands-on experience with process improvement methodologies and project management is preferred.
  • Ability to implement a departmental vision as set by senior management and lead a team toward achieving that vision.
  • Capability to foster strong business partnerships across various disciplines and gain buy-in for identified opportunities.
  • Experience in the food industry is a plus.
  • Proven track record of developing team members by challenging, empowering, and supporting them.
