Position Overview

The Lead Manager within the Accounting Policy division at Bank of America plays a pivotal role in steering technical accounting inquiries and offering strategic guidance across various business sectors, with a primary focus on the Global Markets division. This senior position entails close collaboration with the Head of Accounting Policy to oversee the processes, protocols, and strategic initiatives of the accounting policy team. The role is highly visible, necessitating effective communication with all management levels, business stakeholders, and external auditors.

Key Responsibilities:

In this capacity, the Lead Manager will collaborate with fellow Accounting Policy experts to conduct and document thorough technical research, providing interpretative guidance on both current and forthcoming regulatory standards and accounting principles. The role includes reviewing innovative products and intricate transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory reporting mandates. The incumbent is expected to maintain an advanced understanding of GAAP and regulatory requirements while also leading internal training sessions. As a senior figure within the Accounting Policy team, this position will represent the bank's interests with accounting standard setters, regulatory bodies, and various industry associations.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15 years of extensive experience in the accounting field, showcasing a distinguished performance record in progressive leadership roles within a major diversified financial institution.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting complex transactions.
  • Comprehensive experience and understanding of US regulatory reporting standards in the banking and financial services sector.
  • An energetic business partner with the capability to influence, collaborate, and engage across the organization, including interactions with CFOs, CAOs, controllers, treasury, tax, and other finance leaders.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams to implement accounting standards and lead initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage at various organizational levels.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • CPA certification or a Master's degree in Accounting or an MBA.
  • Experience in Regulatory and Accounting Policy within a large financial institution.
  • Background with a prominent public accounting firm.
