Community Youth Services is seeking empathetic and committed individuals to fill the role of Associate Counselors at our New Directions Crisis Residential Center. Qualifications:

  • At least two years of education and/or direct experience working with at-risk youth.
  • A minimum of six months' experience as an Associate Counselor in a comparable setting.
  • Current TB test results from the past 12 months or the ability to secure a negative result within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster a supportive atmosphere to reduce crisis situations.
  • Provide guidance and counseling to promote safe behaviors.
  • Plan and prepare healthy meals.
  • Organize daily activities and offer structured support.
  • Conduct intake assessments and observe behavioral patterns.
  • Develop and execute personalized treatment plans.
  • Act as a liaison during crises and share community resource information.

Agency Requirements:

  1. Successfully pass a comprehensive background check with no history of harm, especially towards children or vulnerable individuals.
  2. Maintain a clean criminal record, reflecting both professional and personal integrity.
  3. Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with a minimum of five years of driving experience and a clean driving record for the past three years.
  4. Provide proof of auto insurance with coverage of $100,000 or more.
  5. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and the ability to address the diverse needs of the community.
  6. Obtain CPR/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogen certification within 30 days of employment (required for some positions).
  7. Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to work collaboratively within a team.
