Role Overview:
The Military Family Support Counselor (MFSC) plays a critical role in delivering non-medical assistance, which encompasses counseling, consultation, and outreach services to service members and their families. This position focuses on preventive counseling aimed at addressing issues before they escalate into more significant challenges. The unique emotional and situational hurdles faced by military families require compassionate and proactive support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct face-to-face counseling sessions with military service members and their families, including individuals, couples, and groups.
2. Engage with service members and their families through participation in community activities, providing guidance and support to installation staff.
3. Offer educational presentations to military families and leadership during community events.
4. Foster positive relationships with families by attending various installation and community gatherings.
5. Assist families in adjusting to transitions, such as moving to new locations or schools.
6. Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities as assigned.
7. Communicate trends and concerns observed within the assigned installation to leadership.

- Licensure for independent practice (LICSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Psychologist) in the state of Washington.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to pass background checks and obtain necessary clearances.
