Position Overview:

We are in search of a highly experienced Legal Director, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, to collaborate with various functional teams at Angitia. This role necessitates an attorney with substantial in-house counsel experience, particularly in negotiating high-value agreements within the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. The successful candidate will provide business-oriented legal advice on company matters and counsel business leadership on intricate legal terms, vendor contracts, and transactional issues. Responsibilities include providing subject matter expertise on matters arising from research and clinical studies, coordinating responses to external inquiries, participating in due diligence for licensing and financing, and ensuring legal support across all internal functional areas. The role also involves developing and implementing process enhancements for the efficient delivery of legal services in compliance with industry standards (GCP/GMP, etc.). The ability to effectively manage and prioritize competing high-pressure demands is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate business contracts, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the company's key legal risks and concerns while collaborating with various functional teams for input.
  • Deliver high-quality and timely legal advice, identifying and resolving critical legal and business issues across the organization.
  • Manage local and cross-border legal matters, assessing legal risks and concerns pertinent to the company's operations.
  • Maintain and enhance corporate compliance policies, managing updates in accordance with evolving laws and regulations to ensure adherence to legal obligations and internal policies.
  • Conduct legal research across various domains to ensure company policies and regulations remain compliant with current laws.
  • Engage in fundraising activities and assist with related legal matters.
  • Support other functional teams in establishing, reviewing, and managing initiatives requiring legal support, including providing necessary training.
  • Advise on patent and intellectual property issues relevant to the company's business and overall development.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Education & Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • State Bar license certification.
  • 6+ years of experience in-house or at a law firm (preferably a combination of both, with a minimum of 3+ years in-house).
  • Prior experience in the biomedical and clinical development sector is preferred.
  • Exceptional skills in business contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience in coordinating cross-functional teams and providing sound business and legal judgment.
  • Strong attention to detail, good judgment, and the capacity to identify and manage business-related legal issues and risks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal issues to business partners.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adapting to a start-up culture, meeting deadlines, and demonstrating accountability.
  • Capable of working independently while also being an effective team player.

Salary Range: $180k to $220k
