Position Overview:

As a Thermal Systems Project Specialist at Cleaver-Brooks, you will be instrumental in the innovation, design, and enhancement of our thermal management products. This role involves collaboration with diverse teams to leverage your technical expertise, ensuring the successful development and refinement of our thermal solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Innovation: Spearhead the creation of new thermal management products from initial concept through to market introduction, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
  • Design and Enhancement: Apply engineering principles to enhance the performance, efficiency, and dependability of thermal systems.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical and mechanical engineers, as well as software developers, to integrate thermal solutions into comprehensive product lines.
  • Testing and Assessment: Formulate and implement testing protocols to verify the performance and reliability of thermal products. Analyze test data to drive ongoing improvements.
  • Third-Party Certification: Engage with relevant third-party certification bodies and performance testing organizations to secure necessary equipment certifications.
  • Documentation: Generate comprehensive design documentation, specifications, and reports to effectively communicate engineering concepts and product requirements.
  • Cost Evaluation: Conduct cost evaluations to achieve an optimal balance between product performance and cost efficiency.
  • Prototype Development: Oversee the development of prototypes for testing and validation, refining designs based on feedback from testing outcomes.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in thermal management. Utilize this knowledge to enhance product offerings and maintain a competitive advantage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with over 7 years of product engineering experience OR a Master's degree in engineering with over 5 years of product engineering experience.
  • Experience in designing integrated mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with vapor compression systems (including heat pumps, air conditioning units, refrigerators, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Proficient in CAD software for product design and modeling.
  • Experience with CAE tools such as LabVIEW, EES, CFD, and FEA software is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to thermal systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of troubleshooting complex engineering challenges.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, effective in collaborative environments.
  • Awareness of sustainable and energy-efficient technologies.
  • Self-driven with a commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation.

Physical Requirements: The role requires proficiency in computer usage, moderate typing speed, and high data input accuracy. Involves light physical exertion, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: Normal office, plant, or field conditions with minimal exposure to hazardous environments.
