Position Overview

As an Electrical Design Engineer at our dynamic start-up, you will play a pivotal role in the development of flight hardware, overseeing the process from initial concept through to build, qualification, and flight operations. Collaborating closely with the development team and various stakeholders, you will be tasked with designing and implementing the avionics architecture while continuously refining and enhancing your designs. You will be expected to explore cutting-edge solutions to complex challenges and contribute to establishing company standards for avionics development. A proactive approach, adaptability, and a commitment to learning are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, procurement, development, qualification, and integration of avionics components.
  • Conduct component selection, design analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, circuit validation, and documentation for electrical designs.
  • Support electrical architecture, product requirements, manufacturing planning, and production testing.
  • Implement development and qualification testing campaigns to push designs to their limits, ensuring reliable flight hardware.
  • Collaborate with experts from other teams to ensure that deployed systems function efficiently, are manufacturable, and maintain reliability; challenge assumptions and build strong professional relationships.
Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in designing, building, or testing circuit boards or other electronic systems (research and academic projects included).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, self-driven, and demanding environment.
  • Experience with system trades and a solid understanding of how requirements connect hardware to larger systems.
  • Proficiency in designing signal conditioning and analog circuits, digital circuits, and switching power converters.
  • Experience with schematic capture and board layout, preferably using Altium.
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools and analysis methods.
  • Knowledge of lab equipment for the development and testing of circuits and components.
  • Capable of performing board-level rework to support development testing.
  • Basic understanding of EMI/EMC principles and best design practices.
  • Familiarity with design-for-manufacture and design-for-cost principles.
  • Ability to write software for test automation, data analysis, and design evaluation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Ability to follow directives effectively.

Compensation

Target Level:
  • Level 1 Range: $91,000 - $114,900.
  • Level 2 Range: $104,500 - $141,400.
  • Level 3 Range: $123,000 - $184,400.
