Patient Service Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Patient Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities- Greets and registers patients in the electronic medical record system, verifying demographic and billing information.
- Coordinates patient scheduling, including phone and in-person requests, and ensures accurate and efficient scheduling.
- Answers multiple phone lines, determines the appropriate recipient of the call, and refers them promptly and appropriately.
- Distributes communications, including pagers, faxes, and emails, based on practice protocol.
- Resolves patient questions and concerns, including HMO referrals, billing, and clinical information.
- Schedules future appointments and requisitions, laboratory tests, radiology procedures, and other special diagnostic tests as needed.
- Notifies patient care areas when patients have arrived and are ready to be seen.
- Ensures timely and efficient processing of patient information, including billing and insurance verification.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of related customer service experience preferred.
- Experience handling difficult callers, customers, or patients.
- CRT/PC experience in a customer service setting.
- Working knowledge of eClinicalWorks and scheduling sections of the eClinicalWorks system preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
This position requires the ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling patient information.
