Access Control Specialist

Job Overview:

Objective & Scope:

The Access Control Specialist is accountable for the thorough screening of all individuals, including patients, visitors, contractors, vendors, and staff, entering Virginia Hospital Center's facilities. This role ensures adherence to security and health & safety protocols while managing access to designated areas. The specialist utilizes various screening technologies, including visitor management systems, surveillance equipment, and health assessment tools. Exceptional customer service is paramount in maintaining positive interactions with all facility entrants. Additionally, this position may involve assisting the Security and Parking Departments with traffic management and parking regulations.

Qualifications:

A High School Diploma is mandatory.

Experience:

A minimum of one year in a customer service role is essential.

Certification/Licensure:

No specific certifications are required.

Demonstrated confidence in restricting access to unauthorized individuals is necessary.
Ability to communicate effectively and escalate concerns to appropriate personnel is vital.

Leadership skills are expected.
Multi-lingual abilities are advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes all individuals upon their arrival at the facility.
  • Clarifies the screening process to entrants.
  • Conducts comprehensive and precise screenings, which may involve security and health assessments.
  • For security screenings, responsibilities include verifying identification, inputting data into visitor management systems, and operating surveillance equipment.
  • For health screenings, tasks may involve asking health-related questions and taking temperature readings.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service, providing directions and information about the facility.
  • Enforces security policies regarding identification for all individuals.
  • Determines access permissions based on established security and health protocols.
  • Observes the facility for potential security breaches and reports any violations.
  • Communicates and enforces hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
  • Assists with traffic direction and parking enforcement as needed.
  • Supports other security-related tasks, particularly during emergencies or lockdown situations.
Compensation:
$19.00 per hour, with additional differentials for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. This position operates on a PRN/as-needed basis, allowing for flexible scheduling across various shifts.
