Job Description

Job Summary: Sorenson Communications is seeking skilled Sign Language Interpreters to provide high-quality interpreting services for our Video Relay Service. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a critical role in facilitating communication between Deaf and hearing individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
  • Maintain compliance with national, state, and local licensure and/or certification requirements
  • Demonstrate full compliance with Sorenson standards and policies, FCC regulations, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct
  • Accurately complete assigned tasks, projects, and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelines
  • Work effectively in a team environment, receiving support from and providing support to colleagues
  • Enhance interpreting skills through continued education and training

Requirements:

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in ASL: Ability to pass our required skills assessment, high school diploma or GED, associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred), interpreter certification, 3 years' experience working as an interpreter (preferred)
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and to handle other computer components, regular and predictable attendance
