This position involves diagnosing and maintaining sophisticated laboratory equipment, managing tasks to meet response times, and remaining informed on competencies and regulatory requirements.

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is vital in providing accurate and prompt diagnostic data that aids in patient care and treatment choices.

This role includes a weekend option, requiring the employee to commit to Weekend Option (WEO) responsibilities and work two shifts within the WEO timeframe for an enhanced compensation rate.


Responsibilities:
Conducts all procedures related to the analysis of laboratory samples, ensuring compliance with established protocols to deliver precise and trustworthy test results.
Implements quality control and assurance measures to uphold accuracy in sample testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.

Maintains and troubleshoots advanced laboratory instruments and testing systems, documenting corrective measures prior to releasing results to ensure reliable testing outcomes.

Manages responsibilities and organizes workload to adhere to set laboratory turnaround times for efficient patient care and treatment decisions.

Stays current on annual competencies, continuing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance protocols.

Practices efficient utilization of materials and actively engages in inventory management to maintain a cost-effective and well-resourced laboratory.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, including 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological sciences (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry), one semester (one quarter) of mathematics, AND two years of full-time relevant clinical laboratory experience in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis/body fluids.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 2 years of experience as a technical generalist.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY:
Required:
ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification or equivalent certification.
