This position involves diagnosing and maintaining sophisticated laboratory equipment, managing tasks to adhere to turnaround times, and remaining informed on competencies and regulatory requirements.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is vital in providing precise and prompt diagnostic data that aids in patient care and treatment choices.
This role includes a weekend option, where the employee is expected to fulfill Weekend Option (WEO) obligations and work two shifts within the WEO timeframe for a premium compensation rate.
Responsibilities:
Conducts all activities related to the examination of laboratory samples, ensuring compliance with established protocols to deliver accurate and trustworthy test results.
Performs quality control and assurance measures to uphold precision in sample testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.
Maintains and troubleshoots advanced laboratory instruments and testing systems, documenting corrective measures before releasing test results to ensure reliable outcomes.
Organizes tasks and oversees workload to meet defined laboratory turnaround times for effective patient care and treatment decisions.Stays current on annual competencies, ongoing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance protocols.
Utilizes supplies efficiently and actively engages in inventory management to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, including 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological sciences (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry), one semester (one quarter) of mathematics, AND two years of full-time relevant clinical laboratory experience in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis/body fluids.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 2 years of experience as a technical generalist.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY:
Required:
ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification or equivalent certification.
