The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II plays a vital role in executing, evaluating, and reporting laboratory analyses on biological specimens to guarantee precise and dependable outcomes by following established protocols and guidelines.
This position entails diagnosing and resolving issues with sophisticated laboratory equipment, managing tasks to adhere to turnaround expectations, and remaining informed on competency requirements and regulatory guidelines.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is essential in providing accurate and prompt diagnostic data that aids in patient management and treatment strategies.
This role operates on a 7-70 schedule: 70 hours per week (seven 10-hour shifts consecutively) followed by 7 days off.Responsibilities:
Conducts all procedures related to the examination of laboratory specimens, ensuring compliance with established protocols to deliver accurate and trustworthy test results.
Performs quality control and assurance measures to uphold precision in specimen analysis and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.
Maintains and troubleshoots advanced laboratory instruments and testing systems, documenting corrective measures prior to the release of testing results to ensure reliable outcomes.
Manages responsibilities and organizes workload to meet defined laboratory turnaround times for effective patient care and treatment decisions.Stays current on annual competencies, continuing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance policies and procedures.
Practices efficient resource management and actively engages in inventory oversight to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Required:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science or
Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological science with a minimum of 60 semester hours.
EXPERIENCE:
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/
LISTING: Required: Must be eligible for Medical Technologist certification upon hire.
Medical Technologist certification must be obtained within the first 9 months of employment in one of the following certifications:
ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification or equivalent certification by: NCA (National Certification Agency) AMT (American Medical Technologist) HEW (Health, Education, & Welfare).
