The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is tasked with executing, assessing, and reporting laboratory analyses on samples to guarantee precise and dependable outcomes by following established protocols and guidelines.

This position involves diagnosing and resolving issues with sophisticated equipment, managing tasks to meet processing timelines, and remaining informed on competencies and regulatory requirements.

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is vital in providing accurate and prompt diagnostic information that aids in patient care and treatment choices.

This role adheres to a 7-70 schedule: 70 hours a week (seven 10-hour shifts consecutively) followed by 7 days off.

Responsibilities:
Executes all procedures related to the analysis of laboratory samples, ensuring compliance with established protocols to guarantee precise and reliable testing results.
Conducts quality control and assurance measures to uphold accuracy in sample testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.

Maintains and troubleshoots advanced equipment and testing systems, documenting corrective measures before releasing test results to ensure trustworthy outcomes.

Manages responsibilities and organizes workload to meet defined laboratory processing times for effective patient care and treatment decisions.

Stays current on annual competencies, ongoing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance protocols.

Practices efficient utilization of resources and actively engages in inventory management to sustain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.
Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Required:

Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science or
Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological science with a minimum of 60 semester hours.

EXPERIENCE:
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/
LISTING: Required: Must be eligible for Medical Technologist certification upon hire.

Medical Technologist certification must be obtained within the first 9 months of employment in one of the following certifications:
ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification or equivalent certification by: NCA (National Certification Agency) AMT (American Medical Technologist) HEW (Health, Education, & Welfare).
