This position involves diagnosing and resolving issues with sophisticated equipment, managing workload to adhere to turnaround times, and remaining informed on competencies and regulatory requirements.

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is vital in providing accurate and prompt diagnostic information that aids in patient care and treatment decisions.

This role offers a weekend option, where the employee is expected to fulfill Weekend Option (WEO) obligations and work two shifts within the WEO timeframe for an enhanced rate.


Responsibilities:
Conducts all procedures related to the testing of laboratory specimens, ensuring compliance with established protocols to secure accurate and reliable test results.
Implements quality control and assurance measures to uphold precision in specimen testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.

Maintains and troubleshoots advanced instrumentation and testing systems, documenting corrective measures prior to releasing test results to ensure trustworthy outcomes.

Organizes tasks and oversees workload to meet defined laboratory turnaround times for effective patient care and treatment decisions.

Remains current on annual competencies, continuing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance policies and procedures.

Practices efficient supply usage and actively engages in inventory management to sustain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:Required:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, including 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological science (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry), one semester (one quarter) of mathematics, AND two years of full-time relevant clinical laboratory experience in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis/body fluids.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 2 years of experience as a technical generalist.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY:
Required:
ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification or equivalent certification.
