The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II at Cone Health is tasked with executing, assessing, and reporting laboratory examinations on samples to guarantee precise and dependable outcomes by following established protocols and guidelines.
This position involves troubleshooting and maintaining sophisticated laboratory equipment, managing workload to adhere to turnaround times, and remaining informed on competencies and regulatory requirements.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is vital in providing accurate and prompt diagnostic information that aids in patient care and treatment decisions.
This role includes a weekend option, requiring the individual to commit to Weekend Option (WEO) responsibilities and work two shifts within the WEO timeframe for a premium compensation rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts all processes related to the examination of laboratory samples, ensuring compliance with established protocols to deliver accurate and reliable test results.
- Implements quality control and assurance measures to uphold accuracy in specimen testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintains and troubleshoots advanced laboratory instruments and testing systems, documenting corrective actions prior to releasing test results to ensure reliable outcomes.
- Prioritizes tasks and manages workload to meet established laboratory turnaround times, facilitating efficient patient care and treatment decisions.
- Stays current on annual competencies, continuing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance policies.
- Practices efficient utilization of supplies and actively engages in inventory management to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, including 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological science (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry), one semester (one quarter) of mathematics, AND two years of full-time relevant clinical laboratory experience in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis/body fluids.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 2 years of experience as a technical generalist.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Required:
ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification or equivalent certification.
