Position Overview:

The Quarry Operations Internship at Vulcan Materials Company is a comprehensive summer program designed to immerse talented individuals in the aggregates sector and provide substantial visibility for a long-term career with Vulcan Materials. Participants will acquire practical experience and insight into various facets of Vulcan's operations, including Quarrying, Production, Quality Control, Hot-Mix Asphalt, Ready-Mix, Ship Yards, Rail Yards, Logistics, Maintenance, Safety, and Environmental Compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Learning: Engage in hands-on training, which includes operating crushing and processing machinery, pit development, drilling and blasting techniques, mobile equipment handling, quality assurance, customer relations, maintenance, and facility management.
  • Business Acumen: Rotate through various assignments to gain a comprehensive understanding of Vulcan Materials Company, our operations, and the significance of teamwork. This program will equip you for a leadership or supervisory role in plant operations.
  • Safety Promotion: Uphold safety for yourself and your colleagues to ensure zero incidents and full adherence to Vulcan policies and procedures.
  • Process and Material Monitoring: Evaluate production, inventory needs, quality assurance, site planning, pit development, and operational reports to grasp best practices in production and delivery.
  • Equipment and Structure Inspection: Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of the plant and mobile equipment to guarantee safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
  • Repair and Maintenance Assistance: Support inspections and minor maintenance tasks around the plant to learn best practices for equipment repairs.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
