The Business Leadership, Fashion, & Hospitality Department is seeking applications for an adjunct faculty role. Applicant credentials will be retained for future consideration. This department encompasses a diverse range of degrees and certifications in fields such as Business Leadership, Corporate Social Responsibility, Culinary Arts, Entrepreneurship, Fashion Merchandising and Marketing, Project Management, and Tourism and Hospitality Management. Our mission is to cater to the educational aspirations of students interested in these domains, focusing on equipping future business leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs for thriving careers. Many students progress to complete their baccalaureate degrees at institutions in the Philadelphia area, while others embark on new job opportunities or advance in their current career trajectories. In addition to our newly established AAS Business Leadership degree and proficiency certificate, we provide a first-year experience course centered on business leadership. This position is pivotal in enhancing our business leadership programs and delivering instruction in this area.

Teaching faculty are essential members of the broader Academic and Student Success Division at CCP, which includes Workforce Development and Career Training. As a minority-serving institution, CCP faculty play a crucial role in our collective efforts to enhance student success and bridge racial equity gaps through inclusive and high-quality teaching methodologies.

Role Responsibilities
- Instruct Business Leadership courses for students with diverse career aspirations.
  • Assist community college students in honing their Business Leadership competencies, professional demeanor, and behaviors for success in both academic and workplace settings.
  • Facilitate student learning, deliver effective instruction, and assess student performance for all assigned classes, adhering to the standard course outline.
  • Design course curriculum, handouts, lectures, interactive activities, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with fellow faculty and administrators to develop program curricula, standards, and policies, including participating in the textbook selection process as needed.
  • Maintain availability for student support through various communication methods, ensuring clarity in contact methods and hours in the course syllabus.
  • Assign grades and manage course/student records in compliance with privacy regulations, submitting grades and records by established deadlines.
  • Attend all classes and fulfill other scheduled commitments, including meetings, punctually.
  • Engage in professional development to stay updated on technological and pedagogical advancements that enhance student learning.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with local business industries and workforce.
  • Exhibit a commitment to the College's mission, vision, and values, fostering a sense of responsibility for its success.
  • Communicate effectively, share vision, inspire collaboration, and proactively address challenges.
  • Create an inclusive classroom environment, demonstrating understanding and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of the College's community.
  • Participate in ongoing assessment and updates of courses to ensure alignment with program and student learning outcomes.
  • Aim for excellence in teaching, applying best practices in the discipline, and modeling behaviors that promote student success and retention.
  • Commit to professional development, student mentoring, and service to the academic community.
  • Engage actively in the College's academic life, including participation in events and activities that foster student engagement.
  • Respect and promote diversity within the classroom and the broader College community.
  • Contribute to the assessment of student learning outcomes at various levels.
  • Strive for excellence in teaching and utilize innovative strategies and technologies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in organizational leadership, human resources, business communication, or related fields.
  • Six years of experience in the business sector.
  • At least one year of teaching experience.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in employing effective teaching strategies and technologies for in-person and online learning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in a management position.
  • Active involvement in industry-related professional development and networking.
  • Commitment to the intellectual engagement of the department and the College.
  • Experience teaching diverse student populations and addressing equity challenges.
  • Experience in a community college teaching environment.
  • Bilingual or proficiency in additional languages.
