This position is focused on the Admissions/23 Hour Observation unit within GeorgiaGov.

Position Overview

  • Performs comprehensive physical assessments, delivers treatment, and provides guidance to patients.
  • Authorized to prescribe medications in certain circumstances.
  • Requests and interprets diagnostic examinations such as x-rays, ECGs, and laboratory tests.
  • Creates individualized care strategies.
  • Evaluates patients to collect information regarding their physical health.
  • Educates patients on treatment plans, developmental milestones, family planning, psychological concerns, and health preservation.
  • Analyzes diagnostic results to inform clinical decisions.
  • Establishes preliminary diagnoses and formulates treatment strategies.
  • Documents patient medical histories and progress notes.
  • Conducts therapeutic interventions including injections, suturing, wound management, and infection control.
  • Prescribes therapies or medications with necessary approvals.
  • Conducts patient visits and observations, updating medical records and providing feedback.

Qualifications

A Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution and a minimum of two years of relevant experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program and four years of general medical experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited college along with completion of a physician assistant training program of at least 24 months certified by ARC-PA, AND certification to practice as a Physician Assistant by the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners or eligibility to obtain within a year, coupled with two years of relevant experience.

Employment Considerations

To maintain safety and health standards, certain roles may necessitate evaluations, vaccinations, and valid professional licenses. Licenses must be current and recognized within the state. Various assessments and vaccinations may be required, including Drug Screening, TB Evaluation, and Annual Influenza vaccinations (with exemptions available for medical or religious reasons).
