Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Collections Specialist to join our Collections Department in Ashland, KY.
This position will be responsible for administrative duties within the Collection Department, working with the Collections Manager to assist members experiencing financial difficulty.
Job Responsibilities:
• Monitor payments for delinquent status and contact members by phone, text, and mail to assist them in developing plans to bring accounts current.
• Develop workout plans whenever possible and update files and system accounts via the credit union's delinquent loan recovery system.
• Maintain accurate data for repossession log and bankruptcy log, and review delinquent accounts to determine when further collection action is necessary.
• File proof of claims in bankruptcy cases and coordinate with collection supervisors for referrals to attorneys as needed.
• Prepare account files to be referred to repossession agents as needed and perform account research as necessary.
• Serve as an alternate for the Bank Secrecy Act Officer and perform other duties as requested by Ashland Credit Union Leadership.
Education & Experience Requirements:
We require 5 years of experience working in a financial services environment, with at least 3 years in collections.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as self-motivation and strong attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft products, including Word and Excel, is also required.
Required Skills & Abilities:
The ideal candidate will be able to work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm EST, and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
