Job Summary

A Polysomnography Specialist at King's Daughters is responsible for providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, or patient care and education.

Duties and Essential Functions

Key responsibilities include:

Collecting, analyzing, and integrating patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs.
Completing and verifying documentation, explaining pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to patients, and preparing and calibrating equipment for testing.
Applying electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards, performing physiologic calibrations, and performing positive airway pressure mask fitting.
Following procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data, including Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygen titration, etc.

Requirements

Active certification/registration in one of the following credentials: RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist), RST (Registered Sleep Technologist), or SDS (Sleep Disorders Specialist).
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Kentucky state license (if required based on credential).
Experience with CPAP, Bi-PAP, and Pulse Oximetry.

Working Environment

The Polysomnography Specialist works in a fast-paced environment with constantly moving mechanical parts, exposure to blood and/or body fluids, and occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation. The noise level is usually moderate.
