Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Operations Team Leader to manage various operational activities including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, wire cutting, light assembly, and maintaining cleanliness within the warehouse. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating the storage and distribution processes of products and materials. You will oversee specific areas of Warehouse Operations, manage functional teams, and carry out managerial responsibilities as needed. Additionally, you will ensure the consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and oversee associate administration within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to operational protocols for receiving, handling, storing, and shipping products and materials.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all associates by regularly inspecting the facility for repair and maintenance needs, promoting safety initiatives, and ensuring compliance with workers' compensation and general liability policies.
  • Analyze work orders, consumption reports, and demand forecasts to predict peak delivery times and allocate work assignments accordingly.
  • Supervise the activities of team members involved in receiving, storing, and shipping products or materials.
  • Train staff to meet departmental performance objectives.
  • Manage and ensure the successful attainment of performance targets for assigned functional areas.
  • Develop and implement strategies for facility modifications or expansions, including equipment purchases or adjustments in space allocation or structural design.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of surface pickups, deliveries, or distribution of products or materials.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of correspondence, reports, and operational maintenance and safety manuals.
  • Oversee the opening and closing of the distribution center, authorize refunds, and address customer issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and quality control.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a distribution center, high-volume retail, manufacturing, or production environment.
  • 1-3 years of forklift operation experience is required; 5 years is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a team of hourly associates in a fast-paced production, distribution, manufacturing, retail, or similar setting.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring employees.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, review, and manage data, translating business insights effectively to your team.
  • Proven organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written business communication skills are required.
  • Experience with operational processes and team development is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills and aptitude.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and possesses a strong sense of urgency.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze issues and propose realistic solutions.
  • Knowledge of Electrical or Low Voltage products is preferred but not mandatory.
