Step into Your New Role
Kleinfelder is seeking an Environmental Team Leader to oversee, guide, and enhance our Environmental Group in the Salt Lake City office. This role involves managing a growing team of 8-10 environmental specialists, expanding our service offerings, and collaborating with other leaders across the Central Division to foster practice growth. We are in search of a dynamic, confident, and motivated individual capable of inspiring and driving growth within the Environmental Group.
This position presents an exciting challenge that requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills, along with a highly organized and responsive approach. The ideal candidate will thrive in a diverse team environment, adeptly managing multiple tasks with competing priorities. Responsibilities include staff development, revenue enhancement, and providing senior technical oversight for site assessment and environmental compliance projects in Utah and the Central Division. The successful candidate will work closely with the Area Manager and other team leaders to cultivate new client relationships and develop projects in the region while leveraging existing connections.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management
- Supervise and mentor a team of 8-10 environmental professionals, focusing on performance management, recruitment, and retention.
- Promote a positive workplace culture within the environmental group and the broader office environment.
- Lead and coordinate soil and groundwater assessments, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans.
- Manage large-scale programs and multiple projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining quality standards.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, preparing compelling technical proposals and actively engaging in client development.
- Leverage existing client relationships to enhance market presence while serving national and global clients as needed.
Effective Communication
- Convey ideas and information clearly and concisely, tailoring messages to suit the audience.
- Engage listeners with compelling delivery of information.
- Set clear objectives and empower team members to take ownership of their responsibilities.
- Provide a balanced mix of tasks that challenge without overwhelming.
- Invest in team members' growth by helping them define career goals and create development plans.
- Offer constructive feedback and guidance to foster professional growth.

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or equivalent is preferred, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license is advantageous.
Experience:
A minimum of 8-9 years of relevant experience is required, demonstrating successful staff development and project management capabilities, along with knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
