Position Title: Team Leader

Job Type: Hourly, Non-exempt

Position Overview: The Team Leader plays a vital role in the success of A&W by supporting the Restaurant General Manager (RGM) in managing daily operations. This position is responsible for guiding Team Members to deliver exceptional service, ensuring the provision of quality food and beverages in a welcoming and hygienic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engages in various roles during shifts alongside supervisory responsibilities.
  • Oversees Team Member activities to uphold service speed, cleanliness, and operational requirements. Coordinates opening, shift transitions, and closing tasks.
  • Evaluates Team Member productivity and performance, providing constructive, timely, and respectful coaching to enhance performance and achieve operational goals.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures, contributing to a safe working environment. Ensures Team Members comply with policies, including cash handling and safety protocols.
  • Assists in the onboarding and training of new Team Members, effectively utilizing company training resources. Suggests training needs to the RGM.
  • Acts as a role model by fostering positive relationships with Team Members and consistently demonstrating excellent guest service.
  • Takes prompt action to address guest complaints and follows up to ensure satisfaction, collaborating with the RGM to enhance guest service continually.
  • Communicates effectively, relaying information between the RGM and Team Members as necessary.
  • Supports the RGM with administrative tasks such as inventory management, product ordering, deposit preparation, HAACP record-keeping, and maintaining financial and labor documentation.
  • Sets an example for regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of Team Members, facilities, and assets in the absence of the RGM or AGM.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of food service operations with a minimum of one year of industry experience.
  • Familiarity with food safety and physical safety standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with Team Members and guests.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Capability to lead and motivate a team, even in challenging situations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and maintain fast-paced mobility for periods of up to four hours.

Availability Requirements:

  • Flexible availability for scheduling is essential.
  • Must be available for both opening and closing shifts.
  • Willingness to work beyond scheduled hours as needed.
