Position Overview:
Nuclear Safety Analyst
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of processes, systems, and operations within nuclear and non-nuclear environments, ensuring the implementation of effective hazard and accident assessments.
- Perform comprehensive hazard identification, screening, and analysis to enhance safety protocols in nuclear facilities.
- Document and develop safety functions, performance requirements, and criteria for both engineered and administrative controls aimed at minimizing accident risks.
- Assist in the creation of essential documentation, including safety evaluations, design strategies, and specialized technical reports.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate safety discussions and evaluations.
- Analyze the interconnections between system safety requirements and design aspects to optimize program effectiveness.
- Conduct radiological and toxicological consequence assessments as necessary.
- Prepare safety basis documents, such as Conceptual Safety Design Reports and Documented Safety Analyses.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, nuclear engineering technology, or a related discipline.
- 2-10+ years of experience in nuclear safety analysis.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining safety basis documentation for nuclear facilities.
- Minimum of two years working experience in a nuclear facility or NRC-regulated environment.
- Familiarity with 10 CFR 830 Subparts A and B and the Unreviewed Safety Question process.
- Experience in radiological and toxicological consequence analysis is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills in safety evaluations and effective communication abilities.
- Ability to obtain a Q clearance is required.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge.
